92. Foolish Wives (Erich von Stroheim, 1922) :: 6.2
Dit zou de eerste film zijn met een budget van meer dan 1 miljoen. Dat zie je terug in de sets, maar verder (vooral qua verhaal) valt deze film wel wat tegen. In 1922 was de film nog behoorlijk controversieel door al het gokwerk en de sexueel getinte opmerkingen, maar tegenwoordig kijken we daar natuurlijk niet van op. De film heeft behoorlijk aan kracht ingeboet en dat is jammer.
